Mia Dyson, Skunkhour, Ed Kuepper… The Gum Ball is rolling out the big names again when Australia’s most cherished musical escapes returns to the Hunter Valley in 2022.

Staged in the idyllic bushland at Belford, over the school holidays – from 22 to 24 April, the three-day extravaganza is the grandest event on Dashville’s calendar.

In 2022, the family-friendly cultural jamboree will celebrate its 17th anniversary.

So, the hard-working team at Dashville is eager to get back to business, counteract the community’s disruption and deliver a much-needed spectacular with a positive reappearance to days of old.

The event brings a selection of the best musical acts from around Australia and showcases them in an intimate setting one-by-one, alongside comedy, pro skateboarding, markets, workshops, camping and more.

In 2022, The Gum Ball’s program includes Bad//Dreems, Skunkhour, Mia Dyson, Horrorshow, Didirri, Ed Kuepper and Jim White, Claire Anne Taylor, Wolf & Cub, Isobel Knight and her band, Hot Potato Band, Swedish Magazines, Baby Velvet, Vaudeville Smash, Bananagun, Jazz Party, Bobby Alu, Pollyman, The Bottlers, Ruby Gill, Fools, Van Walker & The Ferriters, Bones & Jones, Horse Drawn Cadillac and Peach Fur, with additional bands to be added to the list.

The festival continues to connect community and culture, with distinct homage to the traditional owners of the land, the Wonnarua, featured through a one-off artwork by local indigenous artist Debbie Becker.

In 2021, Festivals Australia project funding assisted in the creation of the Young Gums Youth Mentorship Project.

The five-day mentorship initiative was a huge success in its pilot year and organisers eagerly await the determination of their application for the endeavour in 2022.

The Gum Ball runs from 2pm on Friday 22 April to midday on Sunday 24 April.

Limited tickets are on sale now through Humanitix, with booking fees assisting Nutrition for Aussie School Kids.
