Picturesque Broke and Shoal Bay have been named among the finalists in the 2026 NSW Top Tourism Town Awards.
And, it places the two Hunter destinations in the spotlight for their standout visitor experiences.
Coordinated by the NSW Tourism Association, the annual event celebrates townships throughout the state that deliver exceptional sightseeing offerings, recognising communities that excel in hospitality, attractions and overall visitor appeal.
This year’s shortlist highlights Broke and Shoal Bay as leading examples of regional charm and coastal allure.
The former, nestled in the Hunter Valley, is a finalist in the Tiny Tourism Town category.
Renowned for its boutique wineries, scenic rural landscapes and relaxed country atmosphere, Broke’s growing reputation as a quieter alternative to larger wine destinations has made it increasingly popular with guests seeking an authentic vineyard experience.
Meanwhile, Shoal Bay is vying for the Small Tourism Town crown as it continues to draw attention as one of Port Stephens’ most picturesque coastal locations.
Known for its pristine beaches, waterfront dining and access to Tomaree National Park, it offers a blend of natural beauty and leisure activities that appeal to a wide range of travellers.
The diversity of the region is underlined by the inclusion of both towns, from inland wine country to coastal escapes.
Winners of the 2026 NSW Top Tourism Town Awards will be announced on 27 May at the LGNSW Destination and Visitor Economy Conference in Maitland.
Those to prevail then compete in the Australian Top Tourism Town Awards at Parliament House, Canberra, in September.
