A family is dealing with a shocking tragedy after a boy was pulled unconscious from a pool in Port Stephens overnight.
Emergency services were called to Bobs Farm about 7.30pm on Friday 9 January.
It followed reports a four-year-old was found unresponsive by relatives.
According to NSW Police media, family members performed CPR on the youngster until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived and took over.
The boy was treated at the scene before being conveyed to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.
Sadly, he later passed away.
Officers attached to Port Stephens/Hunter Police District have started an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
