Bolwarra Uniting Church members are counting their blessings after receiving a $35,000 windfall.
The facility’s car park on the Canna Street corner is often a flurry of activity when car boot sales and plant stalls are conducted.
But, shortly, there will be even more action with some extensions being added to the back of the church building.
The Bolwarra local community has been supporting events at the church as they raise money for the vital work.
And, a recent grant from the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership Program of $35,000 will enable Bolwarra Uniting Church to fit-out the food preparation area with new kitchen equipment and appliances.
“This is so exciting,” treasurer Louise Trist said.
“Our congregation has been working hard to raise money for our extensions; and this grant will be the icing on our cake.
“We can replace our small kitchen with a new safe and hygienic food preparation area and feed everyone at our special church lunches and events.
“We’d like to express our gratitude to all our generous donors and supporters in our local community.
“We’d also like to give a big thank you to our MP, Jenny Aitchison, who has been a great support.”
The members of Bolwarra Uniting Church are planning a special sod-turning ceremony on Sunday 10 January, from 9am, to mark the occasion of starting the building works.
“It’s our way to recognise the milestone as well as acknowledge everyone for their generous support and donations,” Ms Trist said.
