Following a 30-hour manhunt, a body has been located during the search for a male reported missing from Lake Macquarie.
The 45-year-old was last seen leaving a hospital on Croudace Bay Road, Belmont, about 3am on Tuesday 4 April.
When he could not be found, officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District were notified after family members raised concerns for his welfare.
A search was conducted of the area with the assistance of NSW SES, Surf Life Saving, Fire and Rescue NSW and PolAir, while a geo-targeted text message was sent to residents in Belmont and surrounds.
Tragically, about 1.30pm on Wednesday 5 April, the body believed to be that of the missing man was located by police at Valentine.
A report will now be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
