Person found deceased during search for missing man in Lambton.
Police began searching for 60-year-old Anthony Chapman after he was last seen on Jerrawa Close, Lambton, about 12.30pm on Sunday, 23 August.
His family and police had raised concerns for his welfare, with his disappearance described as out of character.
Officers attached to Newcastle City Police District commenced inquiries into his whereabouts, with an extensive land search carried out in the Lambton area.
A body believed to be that of Mr Chapman was located on Monday, 24 August.
Police have confirmed the body is yet to be formally identified.
A police spokesperson told the Newcastle Weekly there would be no further updates on the matter, with officers to prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
