Belmont 16s: Sailing into future thanks to $20 million upgrade

When the doors reopen at Belmont 16s, the iconic landmark will become Lake Macquarie’s newest absolute waterfront event space.

Unveiling its $20 million renovation, the 101-year-old club is now set to sail well into the future.

Contemporary, stylish, and coastal are its new design elements, with architectural elements and fittings that make the space a sophisticated version of its former self.

Belmont 16s has a new look thanks to a $20 million upgrade.

Perhaps the venue’s jewel in the crown is the new Martha Drink and Dine, a cosmopolitan dining and cocktail venue on Level One.

Equally as impressive is the club’s unique wedding and event space, offering panoramic 240-degree views over Lake Macquarie.

While staff can be seen wearing stylish new uniforms that reflect the club’s nautical heritage, the addition of the reimagined sailing burgee acts as a symbol of the club’s hope to be a base for the community well into the future.

Sporting sponsorships, community and environmental initiatives, sustainable efforts, as well as school and fundraising support all make up the club’s plans to continue serving its community.

Belmont 16s has been providing a base for sailing on the lake since 1922.

Having successfully committed to prioritising local suppliers throughout its extensive refresh, the organisation hopes to continue bolstering the local business economy for the next 101 years.

“We understand that the strength of our club is intrinsically linked to the well-being of our community, and we remain dedicated to nurturing this bond,” says Belmont 16s CEO Scott Williams.

“Our recent initiatives, from funding educational programs to providing lifesaving AED machines, are reflections of our dedication to uplift and support every member of our community.

“We believe in creating a legacy that transcends sailing and touches the lives of all those around us.

“We hope the redevelopment completes our commitment to become a place for everyone to be together on the water.”
