Are you looking for something a bit different to while away your leisure time?

If the answer is “yes”, then check out this activity.

To celebrate the NSW Seniors Festival, The Place: Charlestown Community Centre will host a free Up Beat Drum Circle – led by the amazing Earthen Rhythms African Drumming – for older residents.

The event, located on the corner of Frederick and Pearson streets, is scheduled for Tuesday 13 April between 9.45am and 11.30am.

“As it’s on during the school holidays, participants can also bring their grandchildren along for a lovely morning of drumming fun,” The Place’s programs and marketing coordinator Grace Folkard said.

“The talented facilitators from Earthen Rhythms teach drumming in a safe, upbeat and easy way.

“They’re also known for bringing joy and laughter to the community through the infectious rhythms of West Africa.

“As part of event, you’ll receive information about the positive benefits of drumming, too.”

A light morning tea will follow the drum circle.

Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential.

Sanitised drums and refreshments will be provided, just bring yourself.

To book your spot, contact The Place on 4032 5500 or via email at [email protected]

The event will also be shared via Zoom so you can join in from the comfort of your home if you prefer (BYO drum of any kind).
