Aussie music legends Ross Wilson, Shane Howard headline Dashville Skyline’s 10th anniversary

A stellar line-up of performers, including legends Ross Wilson and Shane Howard, will help Dashville Skyline celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2024.

Australia’s very own cosmic country weekender in the heart of the Hunter returns to the Lower Belford stage from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 October.

And, to mark the milestone, the festival’s set to include an exciting collaboration with MusicNSW, where two regional acts will join the program as the final stop on the MusicNSW-supported Golden Highway tour.

Heading the bill is one of the nation’s greatest musos, Wilson.

He and his killer band The Peaceniks will unleash mega hits from the Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock vault.

Then there’s the front man from Goanna, Howard, who’s music is etched in the history books, courtesy of the anthemic Solid Rock.

Also making their presence felt are soul country powerhouse Emma Donovan, the eclectic esoteric Ella Hooper from Killing Heidi fame, Tamworth alt-country party boy Andy Golledge, well-swung outfit James Ellis & The Jealous Guys, raucous Austin-based debutants Buck N Stuff, loveable larrikin Watty Thompson, rising indie folk singer Camille Trail, the incredible Americana vibes of Jeb Cardwell & The Dream Deal, bluegrass stars Good Corn Liquor, western swing pros Hunter Valley Ramblers, the sexy prowess of Kingsley James, the deep flow of Andy Abra’s Big River Band, US act Hurray For The Riff Raff, rockers Kingswood, William Crighton, popular up-beat blues trio 19-Twenty, Melbourne spaghetti-western super group The Counterfeit featuring Freya Josephine Hollick.

Other international guests include Portland’s Rose City Band, Texan legends from Yellowstone fame Uncle Lucius and UK-based folk protest singer Grace Petrie.

The festival’s name derives from that of Bob Dylan’s 1968 release Nashville Skyline, which lends an impression of the vibe of the four-day concert.

It’s a celebration of alternative country, its birth in America during the 1960s and 70s, the culture that surrounds the music and the evolution that continues to inspire modern-day songwriters.

But, it’s a lot more, too.

Dashville Skyline is a well-orchestrated musical feast, which casually meanders its way across a vast open country landscape, with a sky above full of stars and songs and every step below another rabbit hole.

It’s chock-a-block full of amazing shows from hand-picked artists from around Australia and the world, with a myriad of artistic collaborations, family activities and laid-back old-school country-inspired fun.

A favourite for young families looking to get back into an easy camping festival adventure.

The ultra-chilled event will host more than 35 performances across three stages.

As well, savor mouth-watering American-inspired food and bevvies, trawl the boutique vintage market stalls, visit the music history exhibit, join the animal petting zoo, partake in a guitar-and-car show and shine.

These are just a few of the things this long weekend festival offers.

The full list of acts performing at Dashville Skyline 2024 includes: Ross Wilson & The Peaceniks, Hurray For The Riff Raff (US), Shane Howard & Band, Ella Hooper, Emma Donovan, Kingswood, William Crighton, Uncle Lucius (US), Emily Barker, Rose City Band (US), Grace Petrie (UK), 19-Twenty, Andy Golledge, James Ellis & The Jealous Guys, The Counterfeit, Freya Josephine Hollick, Dana Gehrman, Jeb Cardwell & The Dream Deal, Watty Thompson, Magpie Diaries, David M.
