Hunter motorists should prepare for more changed overnight traffic conditions throughout Newcastle and Nelson Bay this week.
Transport for NSW (TfNSW) personnel will carry out safety improvement work on the M1 Pacific Motorway at Lenaghan from Wednesday 26 June.
It’ll take place between 6pm and 6am, over three nights, until Saturday 29 June, weather permitting.
A single lane northbound closure, traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h is slated.
Meanwhile, road patching’s also scheduled on Nelson Bay Road at Anna Bay and Bobs Farm.
To lessen the impact, work at Anna Bay – between Port Stephens Drive and Frost Road – will be carried out from 7pm on Wednesday 26 June and is expected to be complete by 5am on Thursday 27 June.
The project at Bobs Farm between Port Stephens Drive and Frost Road will go ahead from 7pm to 5am on Thursday 27 and Friday 28 June.
That’s expected to finish by 5am on Saturday 29 June.
Traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h will be in place, too.
Permanent changes are also planned for Lookout Road in New Lambton Heights.
The northbound right turning lane will be closed from Thursday 27 June to provide safer journeys along the existing Newcastle Inner City Bypass.
Future access to Blackbutt Reserve will be by a left turn for vehicles travelling southbound along the existing Newcastle Inner City Bypass or via Carnley Avenue.
Permanent barriers will be in place at the closed turning lane as well.
“Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control,” a TfNSW spokesperson said.
“We thank everyone for their patience during this time.”
