Hamilton’s Beaumont Street came to life at the weekend with another colourful activation – this time in honour of Mother’s Day.
All things sugar and sweet were the treats when members of the Hamilton Business Association handed out more than 200 delicious brightly-decorated cupcakes to local mums on Saturday 8 May.
Colourfully-hatted and gloved women, seated at tables and chairs, delighted the residents with the tasty offerings.
Music was also in the air, which was the final touch to a wonderful way to celebrate with mothers on Beaumont Street.
“The local mums and grandmothers really loved receiving the cupcakes and seeing the ladies in their colourful hats,” Hamilton Business Association Inc chair Janice Musumeci said.
“It was a fun and bright initiative the Hamilton Business Association provided to our community.
“We’re consistently promoting ‘shop local’ and we wanted to do something special for our mums, too – love local, love Hamilton.”
The Hamilton Business Association is a not-for-profit independent group that represents people who own or occupy commercial spaces in the Hamilton precinct.
Along with its counterparts in Newcastle, Wallsend and Mayfield, the organisation has a service agreement with the City of Newcastle, which provides up to $100,000 annually for projects that promote, beautify and drive economic development for the Hamilton precinct.
