$25,000 boost to support inclusive outdoor learning at Warners Bay

The Warners Bay Early Learning and Care Centre has received an early Christmas present… via a $25,000 grant.

It means the King Street facility’s outdoor and inclusive learning opportunities will be boosted, thanks to the NSW Government’s Local Small Commitments Allocation Program.

Director Debra Denz said the new space would allow the children to enjoy the range of seasons, with undercover and open play options.

“It aligns with our desire to include Indigenous culture at the centre, too,” she explained.

“We look forward to creating a bush tucker space, using native plants that are conducive to our location.

“It’ll also be utilised for events that bring the community into the centre.”

The Local Small Commitments Allocation Program is enhancing regions in each of the 93 NSW electorates with grants to more than 600 projects, ranging from capital works, services and programs, events, supplies and equipment, charitable donations, and playground and park upgrades.

Charlestown MP Jodie Harrison said the Warners Bay Early Learning and Care Centre’s initiative would have fantastic benefits for all the youngsters who attended the service.

“The opportunity to educate children about native plants through the installation of a bush tucker garden is fantastic,” she stated.

“This is going to be a very valuable learning experience for all of them.

“I’m very keen to see the children enjoying the new outdoor space.”
