SHARE

Two dozen cases of COVID-19 have been added to the Hunter New England Local Health District’s (HNELHD) total overnight.

Of the new infections, 11 are in the Newcastle LGA, seven are in Lake Macquarie, three in Maitland, two in Port Stephens and one is from the Tamworth LGA.

In Newcastle, three of the infections are in Shortland and two are in Newcastle East. Bar Beach, Wallsend, Waratah, Birmingham Gardens and Carrington also detected one case each.

In Lake Macquarie, Morriset and Edgeworth each discovered two cases and three infections were found in Arcadia Vale, Toronto and Dora Creek.

Cases in Rutherford, East Maitland and Thornton added three to Maitland’s total while Port Stephens detected two infections in Tanilba Bay.

The final case is in Tamworth.

There are currently 291 active cases in the district with 13 in hospital, two are in ICU.

17 of today’s detections are linked and 15 were infectious in the community. 742 close contacts are in isolation.

It comes as the state recorded just 935 new cases in the 24 hours to 8pm on Sunday night. It’s the lowest daily case total in quite some time.

Tragically, another four deaths also occurred including two men in their 60s, a woman in her 80s and a man in his 80s.

If you need to get tested for COVID-19 there are more than 410 clinics open across NSW.
