Leaving the bush, a reluctant decision for Thornton couple

When they purchased the five-bedroom, two-bathroom home just two years ago, Linda and her husband thought it would be their forever home.

But, things change and sadly they must farewell their expansive home among the trees.

Located just 30 minutes from Newcastle and boasting the recent addition of a bus route that connects it with an existing rail line and access to numerous amenities, Linda says this Woodlands Estate home is more like a nature retreat than a suburban address.

Sitting on an acre of land, and home to a garage that can fit up to eight cars, with a pool less than 12 months old, it is with reluctance that this $1.6 million property will change hands.

Even the surrounding community will be hard to leave says the mother-of-three that is relocating to Queensland.

“It’s such a friendly estate and the area is so peaceful. It won’t be easy to leave.”

Woodlands Estate, she says, is a hidden beauty.

“People often think its in the middle of nowhere but with the new bus routes you can get straight to Greenhills [Shopping Complex] or the train station in less than ten minutes.

“There’s a great school close by and the school bus comes right to the estate.

“In fact, it’s such a friendly area I think if you asked the bus driver, they’d probably drop you right at the front door.”

Once you’ve driven down the driveway all your cares are left behind, she says.

“It’s like being in the bush. It’s been our sanctuary.

“I love waking up with nature and after a busy week at work I can just relax and listen to the sounds of the bush for hours.”

The Woodlands Estate lies between Metford and Thornton.

15 Woodlands Drive, Thornton is for sale with Stephanie Jordan at Dalton Partners.
