There are 102 active cases of COVID-19 in the Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) after 12 new infections were detected yesterday.
With one case in Armidale, Port Stephens and the Hunter remain the areas of concerns.
Of the cases, one is in Gundy, another is in Abermain, two are in the Maitland LGA and the final seven detections are in the Port Stephens LGA.
The infections in Abermain, Thornton and Metford were infectious in the community, with the Metford and Abermain cases linked to a workplace cluster.
The two cases in Shoal Bay, the two in Medowie and the case in Heatherbrae were isolating during their infectious period. The other Port Stephens discoveries in Nelson Bay and Shoal Bay were infectious in the community.
HNELHD assured local residents the case in Gundy was isolating and poses no risk to that area.
Of the district’s cases, eight are in hospital, no one is in ICU. 395 close contacts are in isolation.
It comes as NSW recorded 1,485 new cases and three more deaths overnight.
The deaths were a woman in her 50s who’d had one vaccine dose, who died at Blacktown Hospital, a woman in her 70s who died at Campbelltown Hospital and a man in his 70s who died at Liverpool Hospital, both of whom were unvaccinated.
The death toll for the current NSW outbreak is now 126.
There are 1,030 COVID-19 patients in NSW in hospital, with 175 in intensive care and 72 who require ventilation.
